The Spinal Cord Injury Network Travel Grants

The 2009/10 Spinal Cord Injury Network travel grant winners are:

 

Dr. Bernadette Cassidy, Manager, Allan Bean Centre Library and Information Services at the New Zealand Spinal Trust presented a paper “The Role of Information in Supporting People with Disabilities Return to Independence” at the 2009 AFRM / NIRR / NZRA Rehabilitation Conference in Queenstown, New Zealand in July. Physiotherapist and PhD student, Claire Boswell-Ruys from the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute / University of New South Wales will be presenting three papers at the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Conference Week 2009, held in Sydney in October. Her papers are: “Task-specific training for improving unsupported sitting ability in people with chronic spinal cord injuries: a randomised controlled trial,” “The reliability of assessment tools to measure unsupported sitting ability in people with spinal cord injuries,” and “The development of a falls efficacy scale for people with spinal cord injuries.” Download Claire's Conference Report.

  

Dr Christine Migliorini, Research Fellow and e-PACT Manager, Monash University. Dr Migliorini will be presenting a poster “Vulnerability after SCI: corroborating quantitative and qualitative evidence” at the 48th Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCOS) in Florence, Italy in October.  Dr Jillian Clark, Senior Research Associate, South Australian Spinal Cord Injury Research Centre will be speaking at ISCOS 2009 “Resistance to the physiological activities of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) following spinal cord injury.”  
    
                                                                                                     

  

Research Associate Jenny Lauschke from the Neural Injury Research Unit at the University of New South Wales will be presenting a poster “Assessing autonomic function after acute spinal cord injury” at the Australia and New Zealand Spinal Cord Society (ANZSCoS) Annual Scientific Meeting in November.  Download Jenny's Conference Report.
