Established in 2008, the Spinal Cord Injury Network has identified a number of ways to speed the translation of innovative research discoveries into practical benefits for people with spinal cord injury, focusing on five approaches.

Research Development seeking to improve basic research through promoting collaboration and better information exchange
Facilitation of Clinical Trials to advance the availability of new treatments for people with spinal cord injury
Translation of basic and clinical research into Evidence-based Practice as a key to achieving better treatments for people with spinal cord injury
Identification of priorities through the Spinal Cord Injured People Committee ensuring that people living with spinal cord injury have a research voice
Working in partnership with other networks such as the SCI Solutions Network (Canada) to ensure early adoption of best practice protocols for rehabilitation, acute care and ongoing health promotion.
